SS North King

The SS North King was a German war vessel built just before WWI. It happened to be visiting the US when the war began, so it was sunk by her own crew before the Americans could take it. The US Navy then decided to fix the ship and add her to their fleet. It was later used to transport goods and finally fulfilled her ultimate destination as an immigrant ship, guiding thousands of Portuguese citizens and their hopes through the Atlantic, destined to a new life in Brazil. This was the ship used by my grandparents when they moved to Rio de Janeiro, back in 1957.

This is my first try at coloring an image. I basically followed some tutorials on YouTube and decided to give it a try.

The photo shows SS North King in the Madeira Islands near the Port of Funchal.
